5F) Safety gaps.
Safety gaps are important to protect your PSU, capacitors and to help prevent
voltage spikes from entering your house wiring. Most safety gaps are simple
affairs with an electrode connected to each side of the transformer, and a
center electrode connected to the RF ground. When the voltage in the system
rises too high, the gaps fire and the excess current is sent to ground. Without
safety gaps, you will blow caps and transformers sooner or later. More information
